These are renderings and photographs from the play The Honorable Urashima Taro.  It’s an adaptation of a Japanese folk tale, in which Taro, the hero, has to journey underwater to rescue the Sea Princess and her kingdom.  The director chose to stage the underwater scenes in blacklight, and the sea creatures were all dance students.  Blacklight gave us the opportunity to create all kinds of visual tricks, including a wired skirt for the Sea Princess, which gave the illusion she was floating.
